It’s me, Lucy P…..

(you may have known me as LucyP Yoga before I rebadged. You can still call me LucyP, most people do)

  • Hello, I’m Lucy a yoga therapist living in Chorlton with my 2 children & our dog. I have a small studio inside my house from which I run group yoga classes, yoga therapy, sound baths & events.

I believe that group yoga classes should be fun & fluid and a big part of that for me is the music. For my group classes in order to be able to make seamless playlists which many students have described as “being taken on a journey” I learnt how to DJ. And so during a 60 minute class you can expect ibiza chill out vibes to trip hop, hip hop, house & disco.

Although group yoga classes are mainly focussed on asana (postures) I like to bring in elements of  yoga therapy by using yoga models as a theme for the class or teaching yoga philosophy & how this relates to our modern lives. Please note my group classes are general classes & not therapeutic classes.

  • I was dipping in and out of yoga from my early 20s but would find it too cliquey, the teacher would be standoffish or I didn’t felt I belong. I tried pregnancy yoga with my eldest but it was far too woo woo & boring for me. Eventually I happened across a class in my gym. The teacher was so friendly & welcoming, people were having a laugh & the music had enough of a beat to keep me motivated. I had no clue what I was doing & definitely couldn’t keep up but I kept going back.

This gave me the confidence to try a class at my local studio & found that everyone was welcoming & friendly. I’d found the weirdos & suddenly my life long feeling of not belonging started to disappear. These were my people

  • As all qualified yoga teachers have to I have completed a 200hr foundational training. Additionally to that I have undertaken advanced trainings in yin, mandala vinyasa, pre & post natal yoga as well as menopause yoga.

To train as a Yoga Therapist I undertook a 600+ hour 22 month long yoga therapy diploma which enabled me to register as a therapist with the Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) I continue to study philosophy with my teacher Colin Dunsmuir who was directly authorised by T.K.V. Desikachar to train yoga therapists. I also have monthly professional supervision & mentoring with Carole Lyons who has also trained under Colin & is part of his teaching team

In order to be able to use sound in a therapeutic setting I completed an International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine (IPHM) accredited sound healing course, which also enables me to hold sound baths.

  • Prior to being a yoga teacher & therapist I was a mental health Social Worker & Approved Mental Health Professional for 10 years. I have a MA in Social Work & postgraduate certificate in Applied Mental Health. This has led to my specialist interest as a yoga therapist being mental health & wellbeing. This really underpins all my work because regardless of the reason a person comes to Yoga Therapy the chances are it will be having an effect on mental wellbeing
